Zhongshan Charity Parade - Brief Introduction

Initiated in 1988 for the purpose of raising money for the elderly, Zhongshan Charity Parade has been carried forward for 24 years in a row and become charity custom in Zhongshan today. Zhongshan Charity Parade has been recognized as the Most Influential Charity Program in 2008 by China Charity Association.

Every year, citizens from all walks of life will make donations, join charity sales and contribute to various charity events. On Lantern Festival(元宵节), Feburary 24th of the lunar New Year, a parade will held to express donors’ love to the public. It is one of the most important day for all Zhongshanese.

On that day, folk performance groups, teachers and students, government staff, honorary citizens and many more will present in the parade, and even many overseas Zhongshanese will come straight back to the parade and make donations.

Over 10,000 citizens and folk art performers will parade on Xingzhong Road, the main street of the city. Others will watch the parade show along the roadside, or through TV. It is a fun gala that everyone may enjoy wonderful moments with their families while giving their parts to the charity cause.
