Does Zhongshan have any hiking areas? I see lots of beautiful mountains around Kaiyin and the reservoir and was hoping there are some type of trails on or near the ridges. If not, maybe I can just establish my own. hehe. I know mountain climbing in China is pretty different than in the US where I'm from, but I would like to hike some rather pristine areas with rock and dirt rather than asphalt and concrete if possible.
I would highly recommend you to hike the DA JIAN SHAN mountain（大尖山）located in east-south area of Shi Qi district.
Bus number 47/ 90 /91 stop at Da Jian Shan Park bus station. (大尖山公园)
from the bus station to the foot of the mountain it costs about 15 minutes by walk. hope you would enjoy this pristine area with rock and dirt!
Great info and pics. Thank you very much.
Thanks Evan. I really appreciate it.
I will throw this out on the same thread. Anyone enjoy technical rock climbing and/or bouldering? I've got all my gear minus the crashpad I gave away to a friend before coming to China. I've usually sport and traditional climbed single pitches; only once did a multi-pitch climb due to lack of local elevation necessary for such climbs. The toughest climb I ever completed was a 5.11a on top rope and lead climbed 5.8. Don't let movies fool you about rock climbing. You don't need to be insanely ripped or have to cut yourself from your partner dangling in the air. If you can climb a ladder, you can rock climb. As with every skill, practice is necessary.
