We're in the market for buying a pet dog, preferably a puppy to raise into old age. Preferred breads are larger to mid-sized such as a Great Pyrenees or Japanese Akita (like from the movie Hatchi). The idea is that the dog will be somewhat protective without being overly aggressive. I've raised a Great Pyrenees in China before and he did great, except the shedding was a bit much, but his temperament was great. Not great to play fetch with, but when you needed a friend to stick up for you, he'd be there. Truly a gentle giant. I've heard mixed stories about buying dogs from a bird flower market so I'm asking around here for other's experiences and advice. Anybody with connections to an actual dog breeder?
Man, i wish i saw this post earlier. I had few adorable puppies and tried so hard to find good families to take care of them.
They aren't pure breed though.
