Hi. A certain administrator for this website made me promise a blood-oath, to write a review of my experience getting service at "Autotech Motor Services Centre" in Zhongshan, run by a Mr. Steven Ma who was educated in Australia.
Well, we had a wonderful first date. I brought the nuts and my crankshaft, and he was very generous with the Juffy Lube. At first I didn't want him peering under my hood, but once he loosened my belts I knew I was in good hands.
Oh wait. It's not that kind of website? Sorry, er, I must have typed in the wrong URL. Ummmm. Yeah, like I was saying. I needed an oil change, and I'd been complaining forever about a pesky door-closing mechanism that had been on the fritz for over a year - Len can tell you. The shop was absolutely clean and orderly, and they fixed everything for a fair price, including giving me a free ride back to Kai Yin while I waited for them to finish. The car was returned to me freshly washed (needed it!), with a sticker in the window reminding me of the next service interval. It was a relief to be able to explain what I wanted, and to be understand and listened to. Definitely a "recommend" from me.

I am also happy he could fix that lock although it does take away a bit of the excitement of travelling with you.
More info can be found about this valuable service at this link
Chris, I'm very happy to hear that Steve sorted out your oil change and the you recommend his services. I for one am also very happy, I know little to nothing about cars so to have Steve at the end of a phone to help me out and too know he won't try to rip me off is awesome.
He will be at the BBQ with the rest of us this Saturday night so we can introduce him to a few people who are brave enough to drive a car in China :-)
I just wanted to add an experience I had today with Steve Ma the English-speaking Mechanic in Zhongshan.
I drove my son to Bowen Kindergarten as usual, the only thing that was different this morning apart from being late was the weather, the heavens had opened up and I was considering calling my good friend Noah to reserve me a seat on his boat.
As I closed in on the school I went through a large pool of water on the slip road to Bowen, it made my car slow right down and I completely soaked a motorcyclist with my wave of water.
I pulled up right outside the kindergarten, illegally and blocking the entrance (chinese style) and took my son into the school. When I returned, I jumped into my car and turned the key ... click click click. The car wouldn't start. Maybe this was Karma for soaking the motorcyclist earlier.
The rain was still coming down hard, I turned everything off, lights, AC radio etc ... tried again click click click. I had no alternative but to call Steve Ma.
Ring Ring, "Hey Paul what’s up", "Car won't start, I'm outside Bowen School", "Okay I'll be there in 10 mins"
10 Chinese minutes later Steve arrived, he asked what was the problem, I explained, he took my keys, jumped into my car and turned the key .... Brrrm Brmmm ... The damn car started first time.
I was speechless, I apologized to Steve and assured him I wasn't mad and the car definitely wouldn't start 10 minutes ago.

I was the moto cyclist and I was late for class because
someone had blocked the entrance to the school.
Thanks man!
Unfortunately, the problem that they were supposed to have fixed - my automatic door locks opening and closing randomly, usually with the effect of locking the door 1 second after I've opened it - has returned. I can't blame Steven and crew, though. This has been a gremlin for more than a year and no one can fix it, yet. The question is: will Steven do right by me and work on it without additional charge (since I already paid for it, and it's still broken), or is he going to try to take me for a ride (that's a car pun, by the way?) We'll see....
i need to get to know this guy. what's the address and stevens phone number? made some changes on my genesis turbo and want a professional to confirm its safe.
