Cool and sunny, we left Tongxin at about 8:15 which wasn't hard as my favorite view of the place will always be in my rear view mirror. Its one redeeming grace was the receptionist at the hotel, however the hotel itself was the pits and the confusion and condition of very bad roads…Continue 继续

Day 30 wasn't a good start and it got even worse. Opened the curtains this morning and it was raining, in the desert!!! It was cold too at about 6 C. Breakfast at the hotel was only bread, our own coffee and no hot water for tea. Kindly the lady brought some eggs and gave us one each, put them in a room and locked the door so we couldn't steal any more.
Getting everything sorted we found my bike had a puncture. I shouldn't complain because I've had three and Phil has had one…Continue 继续

We left Chang Wu at 8:45, a little later than usual and it was cold, only 5C but no rain, thankfully, for what turned out to be a very interesting day.
Leaving the hotel we turned onto the main road and rode northwest. We were climbing but it was only similar to my ride…Continue 继续

We started today with a decent elevation, Yong Shou is over 1250 feet we and started to climb as soon as we left the hotel. After about 10 km we started to go down. It seems the first three mountains were the same, we climb then we descend. This may seem good but it isn't, because every meter we go down is…Continue 继续

I thought climbing hills was hard but saying goodbye to Ann and leaving Xian was the hardest thing I've done on this journey.

I can honestly say that I was very nervous about coming into the mountains and covering 350 km but my apprehension was worse than the reality as they have been three of the best days of the ride so far and we hope a precursor of more to come.
On today's ride, we had a great start being joined by 10 riders from the local Merida bike store. Hua Chen Chen who…Continue 继续

Fist of all, the scenery here is magnificent, the mountains don't exactly tower over us but they loom large in the distance and appear to be impassible walls preventing our movement forward but then suddenly a bend in the road appears and the gap through becomes apparent…Continue 继续

We are in the mountains and have climbed a total of 1900 and had some relaxing descents. The climbs were long but not as hard as the climbs out of Qing Yuan and Lian Zhou. So, although we were prepared for a very tough day we are happily resting in the sunshine with a cold beer at…Continue 继续

A short ride today, we left Fawlty Towers about 8am and hit the road for a perfect day. Nothing much to say about today's riding except we can only hope our trip will always be like this.

Today could not have been a more different day to yesterday, with better roads, prettier scenery, better weather and kindness from strangers.
Having only a shorter ride today we started out a little later. Leaving the city of Xiangyang was spectacular, what a pity we arrived late, tired and very dirty last night. It’s a beautiful place with old walls around it like Xi’an. We rode through…Continue 继续

After an almost perfect day yesterday the planets all aligned against us to make today the worst possible day of our ride so far. Can it get any worse? I don't think so. We set out at 8.30 this morning, our day looked good, 125 km and fairly flat. It was going well until we had 42 km under out wheels and then we saw a sign to our destination, Xiangyang,…Continue 继续

Yesterday we got lost, we were off the map but riding north so we weren't concerned, we found a small town called Fu Tian Si and spent the night in a cheap but comfortable hotel with no locks on the door!

The first 25 km from Yue yang were fantastic, smooth, straight roads going north then a decision to follow the map led us off the road and into a rural area where the roads were not so great and we felt a little lost, however, several people confirmed we could get to Hubei and there was a bridge.…Continue 继续
