When the Japanese invaded China long before the start of the WWII it is told amongst locals that genetic experiments were done by them on the local population and so many of the small village of Zhongshan packed up and moved out and away from Japanese eyes. This is how the small village of FuHuo was founded. Located a short drive from Kaiyin this idyllic little village is one of Gary and Sonya's favorite places to take their children for a lazy summer afternoon. With plenty of shade from over hanging trees, a cool breeze flowing off the lake and the stone construction buildings. FuHuo offers a chance to take a step back into China's past. More ancient steps back into China's past can be found but steps from a time that many would have China forget have to be taken. One of their favorite places to visit in FuHuo is Jerry Lin's Cafe Terrapin Station. Without disturbing the ambiance of the old town Jerry has brought 21st century western food to old China. With some of the best lamb and steak they have eaten in and out of China, this is a dining must. Family Friendly and with plenty of safe room for their children to wander and play unhindered by the hustle and bustle of the city is it any wonder most weekends you can find them there. A little out of the way but accessible by bike car or taxi Terrapin Station is Gary and Sonya's great escape where they are able to relax in idyllic surroundings, they prefer Alfresco. However on those drizzle days can escape to the the old world dining room.
